DAAD “Telematics” Project

The DAAD “Telematics” project is a partnership initiative between Technische Hochschule Köln (TH Köln, Germany) and the Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. Razzakov (KSTU), implemented within the DAAD program “German-language Study Programs” (DSG).

Key information about the project:

  • Objective: To educate students in the field of Telematics in German in the Kyrgyz Republic, with opportunities for further study or internships in Germany.
  • Participants: The project is based at the Telematics Department of the Kyrgyz-German Technical Institute (KGTI) at KSTU.
  • Coordinator: On the German side, the project is coordinated by TH Köln (University of Applied Sciences Cologne).

Current results and news (2024–2025):

  • Internships in Germany (October 2024): Students and lecturers of the KSTU Telematics Department completed a one-month internship and training program at TH Köln (Gummersbach Campus). The program included practical training in automation and IT.
  • “Aufenthalt in Deutschland” scholarships (2024): In 2024, another competition for travel scholarships to Germany was held, specifically for students of the Telematics program.
  • Establishment of a TestDaF Center (2025): In 2025, an official TestDaF examination center will be established at KSTU in cooperation with the DAAD branch. This significantly simplifies language certification for students planning to study in Germany.
  • Career success of graduates: Graduates of the project successfully find employment in major German technology companies, noting that the training received in Bishkek meets European standards.
  • International conferences (December 2025): A large-scale DAAD alumni conference was held at KSTU to mark the 100th anniversary of the organization, highlighting the results of long-term cooperation with TH Köln.

Within the framework of the current exchange agreement between Ogarev Mordovia State University and the Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. Razzakov, inter-university academic cooperation is being implemented, including academic mobility of students and faculty members.
Students and lecturers of the Telematics program travel annually to the city of Saransk to participate in study visits, student competitions, and other educational and scientific events organized at Ogarev Mordovia State University.
Professors of Ogarev Mordovia State University, who are specialists in automation and programmable logic controllers (PLC OVEN), are involved in the Telematics program as invited lecturers and conduct lectures and practical classes for students.

The Telematics program cooperates with the KRENA Association, which acts as the national representative of the regional research and education network CAREN (Central Asian Research and Education Network), with the aim of developing scientific, educational, and network infrastructure, as well as expanding academic and research cooperation.

The Department of Telematics hosts a Regional Training Center of the OVЕN company (established on 23.09.2017), where professional development courses for engineers of industrial companies are conducted.
