About the Project

KSTU named after I. Razzakov took part in the implementation of the DERECKA project, aimed at strengthening the research and innovation potential in Kyrgyzstan through the development of PhD doctoral programs. The project addressed the problem of brain drain of highly qualified scientists and the decline in the prestige of science in the country, as well as the need to restore links between science and industry.

Participants

The project consortium included 4 EU universities and 7 universities from Kyrgyzstan.

Main Goals

  • Supporting the modernization and internationalization of higher education in Kyrgyzstan
  • Development of new innovative PhD programs compliant with EU standards
  • Enhancing the research competence of academic staff
  • Improving the administration of PhD programs
  • Promoting a culture of scientific research among the academic community and society

Results

  • A seminar on the introduction of PhD doctoral studies and the establishment of a doctoral school at KSTU was held
  • PhD programs were developed and modernized in priority fields: renewable energy technologies, agroeconomics, healthcare, and food technology
  • Training sessions were conducted for faculty members and PhD program administrators
  • A regulatory framework was prepared for the implementation of PhD programs at KSTU
