- 1978–1981 – Studied at the Frunze Polytechnic College. Graduated with honors and enrolled at the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute.
- 1981–1985 – Student of the Faculty of Energy and Mechanical Engineering at Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute. After the 3rd year, transferred to the Faculty of Mechanics at the Moscow Institute of Hydro-Reclamation.
- 1985–1987 – Served in the Soviet Army in the Kamchatka region.
- 1990 – Graduated with honors from the Moscow Institute of Hydro-Reclamation, qualified as a Mechanical Engineer.
